G'day boys, JH 'ere.

i've been having some strange problems with my ingame performance, regardless of having my graphics on high, medium or low, i can't go over 8- 15 FPS, which is shit. The game is unplayable for me this way, and it would force me to quit the game for quite a while, and i do not want to have to quit, because i'll miss playing good fights with you guys so fucking much.
Now, i was hoping any techsavy boys could maybe aid me a bit? All help is welcome of course.

I have an Alienware laptop. This kind of problem happens to me aswell, anytime I unplug the External AC every Hardware component goes down to only 60% -> 20fps only.

Same here Gag, although this has always been a very lovely powerfull laptop, PS2 has brought it down to it's knees now, and it's dissapointing.
It's an Alienware MX17R3 with Intel(R) Core (TM)i7-2630QM CPU @2,00 GHz : 6GB RAM 64-bits

This shit was so hardcore when i put it together 2-3 years ago...

Well with AMD for example you get the software right away, Other brands im not sure off. But this aint something you can change by accident unless you're blind.

If you bought it in a computer store, it´s probably not overclocked. But you can choose the overclock option if you buy it at the dell online store

I´d say you face the same prob like many others
solution: waiting for the devs to solve it (or overclocking but be careful)

I got also serious performance problems. I tweaked the UserOptions.ini so much that the game looks like half life 1 but its still stuttering. Only 15-20fps. But in areas when nothing or just a little fight happens it runs very smooth.

And i noticed that the game runs in large battles for 5-10 second unbelieveable smooth and then falls again under 15fps for like 5-10mins and that all the time.

It improved my FPS, but then I realised the render distance is 2000, and I was playing with 9999 distance... Now all looks foggy

What exactly improved your performance? Overclocking?

I don't know what overclocking has to do with changing some settings. My FPS just improved by 60 to 70 FPS

Ehm? I am asking you what you've done EXACTLY that your FPS increased?

Hi Jack,

It sounds as if PS2 has decided to use only the laptop's onboard processor graphics rather than your dedicated Nvidia graphics.

Have you updated your graphics drivers recently? Either way, you could try uninstalling your Nvidia graphics drivers, restarting the laptop and then reinstalling them. Or going back to a slightly earlier version of the driver.

To check if you're overclocking you need to know what your base CPU speed is, eg, 2.67Ghz. If you're overclocking you'll see that a higher level, eg, 2.9Ghz or 3.2GHz depending on the CPU multiplier you've set.

I use this bit of software to see this easily - www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Good luck!

Nothing interesting to see here. Move along.
