To La Rochelle in France where I would get in for free, and my 500 euro student money (free money from government) would keep my head above the water just and just...

or

To Sunshine Coast in Australia where I would have to pay 7500 EUR for just to study, but my 500 EUR / month would have more buying power - e.g. nicer life with the same money there.

or

SOMETHING ELSE?

Which is your pick?

Note that Thailand is out of the question due health issues, and USA is way too pricey.. And I don't like UK (No offense, but been there as an exchange student once and I'm never going back)...

I have about 2 weeks to get the place if I want to exchange next year.

1. Australia
2. U.S / Korea (I'm gonna assume it's SOUTH Korea :D )

...this would be my choice not taking into account any family or other that I may want to be closer to geographically.

I've been there already (in Australia) for a year with the Working Holiday visa..

So it's pretty tempting but 7500 EUR!!!

But what is money when you pay for experience? ONCE IN A LIFETIME, RIGHT?

But 7500.... Man, I could go to a place where I wouldn't have to pay, and then use the 7500 to have a nice vacation after graduation in Australia...

Hard choices..

Help!

i'd say try to ignore the money side of things and focus on which of the options will give you the best quality of life and memorable experiences while you're there. You're only young once and this period of your life is the only time you'll probably have to go abroad and experience living away from your native land, so make it count!

I lived in a bunch of different countries through my 20s and wouldn't change the experience for anything. Now i'm in a serious job i'll probably never get the chance to again, so make sure you make the most of this opportunity =D Go with what you heart says

I second the hot black female. I might add: don't go to germany when you can go to australia, but since you've been there already... still don't go to germany. There are more exciting places. ;)

Australia is far too hot for any sane man, not to mention black mamba snakes and funnel web spiders. But then I'm not a traveling man, i only left England once (under duress from my boss). I will say this though, the money is not so important, you can work that off later.

Hey, we Finns sit in a 100C sauna, so Australia's temperatures of high 40C's don't even get me sweating

During the year I lived in Australia (most of that time, 9 months, in the tropics) I saw one snake (that in Tasmania, not in tropics) and one handsize Huntsman spider (lived in our bathroom)...

From the TV documentaries and shows you get the picture that Australia is full of killer stuff, but really it isn't; Those things will only appear in few conditions - a) Go out to the jungle at night. b) Go out to the outback (nobody goes there, there's nothing!) c) Snakes and lizards come always when you have a hangover, so don't get one. ;)

Thanks everybody! Thank you for your replies! Everybody seems to be up for Australia, and Ash, thanks for the tip!

HCJ, Australia is a LOT pricier than France! Have lived in bothe and have to say it's at least 20% more expensive! I'd still go to Oz though as its friggin amazing and truly eye-opening; not to mention it gives you the chance to continue your career there! Ive been to all of QLD, Sydney and Melbo and loved them aaaalll! Srsly, GO

I guess I can find cannabis anywhere, but too easy access to it might prove fatal to my studies...

So that's why I am not going to exchange into Holland ;)

I just know myself. Of course it is available in France and Australia but it's a bit harder to get, which is good for studies.

Hey !

As a French, I have to warn you if you chose this country. I hope you can speak french, because our reputation is not stolen, we really suck at foreign language, and in your daily life things can be difficult considering that most of the french are really bad in English...

I'm not saying that it will be impossible or horrible, just that if you don't speak French, you'll have to try to learn the language a bit more.

But as the French is a beautiful language, and France a beautiful country, you should go there !
